Bagby- Baltimore, Maryland

This locally owned and operated pizza place located in Baltimore, Maryland between Little Italy and Harbor East has only been open a few years, but the lunch traffic is tremendous.  They have seats inside and out, and the interior is very spacious.
I ordered garlic bread and a small Regular Cheese 10” pizza.  First the garlic bread came which must have been the worst I have ever had.  It was rustic bread very lightly toasted with smashed garlic chunks and a little melted cheese on top.  They didn’t seem to put much thought into the garlic bread because one side was not toasted at all and the other was barely toasted.  You would think that they would at least put the garlic and cheese on the toasted side and not on the untoasted side but they didn’t.  Also, the garlic cloves were still in pretty big chunks and even though I love garlic, eating chunks of garlic cloves is not a pleasant experience.  I definitely would not order the garlic bread again.

Bagby makes their pizza dough from scratch daily, and it is light and crisp.  The pizza is baked using a Brick Oven and the pizza arrives on a silver pizza plate.  Looking at the pizza, you wonder how they can make it so thin and it not break.  Unlike some brickoven pizzas, this pizza is not burned at the bottom and separates easily from the other slices without cheese stringing along.  The pizza had a delicious taste and is worth the 4 block walk into Little Italy from where I was staying.  The pizza had a little of it’s own unique blend and you can taste a bit of the oregano when you take a bite.  They use very light sauce which is how I like it.  Some pizza places use thick and chunky tomato sauce which I believe takes away from the taste.  The pizza had a crispy crunchy crust which is cracker like, holding the pizza is a bit of a challenge because of the thinness of the slices.  This is not your typical NY style large slice that you can fold in half, any attempt to fold the pizza and parts of the crust cracks into pieces.

In all, this is a good place to get a pizza in the downtown area of Baltimore, MD.

Papa Johns

Pizza Delivery must be one of the greatest things available in food delivery. It's great for the rainy days, lazy days, kid parties, quick food delivered, late night meal, and many more.  I remember when Domino's was the delivery kings in the 80's(Avoid the Noid).  Then Pizza Hut took over as the delivery kings in the 90's-mid 2000.  Papa Johns came on like gangbusters and I think are at the top of delivery if not, real close to Pizza hut for the #1 spot.

I like to alternate ordering from the Big three (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns) so this weekend, I stopped in and ordered a Tuscan Six Cheese pizza and Cheese sticks from Papa Johns before picking up a movie at blockbuster with the kids.  The Cheese Sticks are pretty good.  I kinda think of it as a mini white-pizza.  It has a good taste, cheesey, and with no tomoato sauce so it's a great alternative for breadsticks or garlic breads.  If you haven't tried this appetizer, I would definitely order one next time.

The Tuscan Six Cheese pizza is topped with an authentic six-cheese blend of mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano, Asiago, provolone and Fontina. They Sprinkle a special blend of Italian herb seasonings for an extra dash of flavor.  I must say, this option gives a big change to the normal Pizza fastfood chains. The cheese's and the herb seasoning provide a nice flavor once you take the first bite. I'm not a big fan of too much tomato sauce, so I normally ask for light sauce and welldone.  It's a "specialty pizza" so it will cost a bit more then the regular pie, but well worth it for a change of the usual.

Espositos -Davie, FL.

Our office moved to the Davie, Fl location which is part of Broward County.  Espositos is a small little place across from NOVA University.

I ordered a half a dozen garlic knots and a small 10" cheese pizza.  When the garlic knots came, I was expecting the regular small size and usually hard and dry.  To my surprise, they brought me 6 Huge garlic knots.  The presentation and size amazed me, and was hoping it tasted as good as it looked.  The Garlic knots were GREAT!  Big fluffy pieces, toasty on top and nice and soft in the middle.  Not drenched in garlic sauce, but enough to give it flavor.  A must have, but I will only order 3 next time.

I ordered a small 10" cheese pizza, it's thin crust, toasty but not burned crust, and not to much tomato sauce.  The Pizza was cooked well with a good finish, not undercooked and the cheese fully melted and colorful.  Menu looks entertaining, including diet pizza (whole wheat and low fat cheese), and tons of other options.  Being close to a University, this is not your quick 2am place to pick up slices, but really good pizza.  Will definitely be back.

Time to Share

I've had a love for pizza ever since I was young.  Pizza is one food that I can eat almost everyday, hot or cold.  When ordering pizza my philosophy is, get the large because any leftovers can be eaten later that night or the next day.

I will be reviewing all types of places that serve pizza (restaurants, pizza joints, chains, mom and pops, frozen, etc.).  So come back and check out my reviews, and if you have any recommendations Nationwide, let me know!
